The description says "for shaping and buffing nails" so I thought I'd be able to use this as a file and buffer. It is totally useless as a nail file--not enough grit to even file down a rough spot. As a buffer it's ok, but not any better than the cheaper ones I've bought. It does a decent job of buffing out ridges, but it takes a lot of time and passes to get the job done. I doubt if I'll get more than 4 or 5 uses from this because after using it once it's already showing a lot of wear. If this was a $5.00 item this review wouldn't be so harsh, but for $12.00 and considering the reputation of Deborah Lippmann, I expected a much better product.
I bought this product based on the recommendation of a magazine article. I am glad that I did it. I like the nail filer. Good filing quality. very easy on the hand. it is a keeper. it felt just like the name of the product "smooth operator"

I wanted to love it, I really did but it was destroyed after 1 use. I was really disappointed.
