Cannot sharpen this thing

I've been buying MAC lip pencils in this exact shade for years. My latest one is impossible to sharpen. It breaks time after time, and I've wasted over half the pencil trying to get a point on it, with my cosmetic pencil sharpener and my regular office one. The point gets almost sharp, then snaps off. It is infuriating! Also attempted to upload a photo of my unusable lip pencil but no success.
The consistency of this pencil is like cement. It is so hard that it doesn’t lay down any color. Trying to apply it with the sharp tip felt like I was scratching my lips with a toothpick! And the color shown on the website was wholly different from what arrived. I can’t believe people have rated it so highly.
