Smells horrible!!

I made an account here specifically to write a review, so that should tell you something. I purchased a few Philosophy products on QVC and Hope in a Jar was in the set. I was excited to try it because I've heard good things. Never, ever, did I expect this horrible smell. It made me so nauseous, I had to rewash my face and use my old Clinique moisturizer. How can you put out a product like this? The moisturizer itself I can tell works very well. It moisturized my skin without being too oily or heavy. But when the smell makes me sick, I cannot continue to use it. I've read so many reviews now where people are complaining about the scent. Please fix it!

We find that some customers feel the hope in a jar has too much of a medicinal lavendar smell from the essential oils for them. In this case we would recommend perhaps trying the renewed hope in a jar instead. It has a similar formula and a light citrus/floral scent. Renewed...? What Renewal? Not-so-good for Oily/Combo Skin

So I was excited to try this , as I am excited to try all things that say "hope in a jar" on them, as it is THE product that made me fall in love with philosophy & kept me coming back for more & more & more & more... But I have to say I was very disappointed with this product. It has a much heavier texture than the original Hope in a Jar, creamier but not as emulsifying on my face & it just sort of sat on the surface, making my skin look greasy. It also led to breakouts. Yuck! I even tried using the moisturizer as a night cream but had to bag it in the end & just use it as a chest cream for after my micro-delivery peel. At least it was good for something! Maybe if you had drier skin this might be good for you...

So, first off let me say Yes, this product smells weird. I like my face products to smell yummy too, y'all, & this one doesn't -- which is disappointing. That is the ONLY thing wrong with it, so I figure Oh well! if it works, it works & I'll deal with the smell.
I suffer from allergy-prone skin, which makes it more sensitive to itching and break-outs and those deep ouchy under-the-surface blemishes that I swear I can't leave my fingers alone from touching. I have discovered I am allergic to chemical sunscreens & can't use moisturizers with ANY spf & this formula is the lightest, airiest, most wonderful dream of hydration my skin never knew existed. I used to think I could not have both hydration & a very lightweight, absorbent moisturizer that didn't cause irritation & break-outs. Until I found this...my holy grail of moisturizers! My skin has changed hats throughout my twenties & thirties & has become very oily to combination-oily with wrinkles yet still acne prone. It's frustrating so I keep looking for a one-size That doesn't mean I haven't tried to find something better & have suffered from this tendency I have to want to try new skincare products but every. single. time I have an issue, I return to this product & IT UNDOES THE DAMAGE. So why do I continue to try other things? Because I'm an idiot that likes make-up & beauty products, but ya know, I always keep a pot of this to use to repair my wayward fancies.
My favorite use is for @ Night: purity, micro-delivery wash, clear days ahead acne wash, (yes, I know that is a lot of cleansing) serums & eye serum/cream of choice, Help Me, & this specific Hope in a Jar. BOOM. I wake up with the BEST. SKIN. EVER. Every time.
Only other thing is that the jar always cracks a little at the top...weird...minor grievance, really. I like the new jar for the Renewed Hope in a Jar but that product is greasy, yuck! No renewal for me on that one...

I received a small tub of this in a combo pack with the Purity cleanser and was excited to give it a try. I have not used a philosophy moisturizer before and was worried it would be too heavy to wear under makeup, but I was so wrong. This moisturizer sinks into your skin really quickly and doesn't feel like anything after it dries. It also has a really great subtle smell that I love! I use it morning and night after cleansing with Purity and my skin has never looked better. I loved it so much I ordered the full size jar! I'm so excited to add this to my skincare routine!
