dry skin no more
PostedNovember 9, 2010
i have struggled with dry, flaky skin for most of my adult life. then, i discovered this moisturizer. while the smell is a bit off putting when you first begin using it, the benefits soon outweigh that issue. my skin has never looked more hydrated and smooth. i will never be without this moisturizer again. thank you, philosophy!!

fan favorite but not for me
PostedNovember 7, 2010
I know many people rate this highly, but after a few weeks of use introducing into my skin care routine as my daily moisturizer my pores felt clogged and blackheads began to appear near my nose and chin. Only philosophy product i have had a negative experience with and i use the cleaners, peels 3 in 1s, etc.

Great on occasion, but keep away from eyes!
PostedNovember 6, 2010
i use this moisturizer occasionally at night. it leaves my skin a little too shiny/ greasy to be used in the morning, but if i really want or need a thick moisturizer because my skin is feeling extra dry, then i will put this on after cleansing my face at night. i do have one warning, though, keep it away from your eyes! it makes my eyes tear up and become very irritated if it comes close to them! it does, however it does a great job moisturizing.

Light and soothing
PostedSeptember 21, 2010
i very rarely use moisturizer, and when i do it's usually a lotion or a gel. every now and then, due to outdoor activities (gardening, skiing) my facial skin feels dry and tight, and even though it's a cream, hope in a jar's silky texture provides the perfect soothing, plumping, light moisture. hope in a jar, in the jar, smells mildly of lavender, and has a fresh, clean scent; similar to Purity cleanser. however, on my face, something in it mixes badly with something in my body chemisty that makes hope in a jar smell like moth balls or camphor on my skin. It wouldn't bother me if the smell went away, but I catch whiffs of it throughout the day, and my husband has complained about the odor on my face and my pillowcases at night (he asked, "what smells like wet dog?"). however, my mother uses hope in a jar in various formulations, and it doesn't have any scent on her! And she applies much more at once than i use. i don't know why my skin makes this cream have such a lingering odor, unless, perhaps, my skin is too oily for it, and my own skin oils, mixed with the lavender fragrance, smell bad. i wanted to write about the bad smell so that others who notice this know they're not alone, however i want to stress that i think hope in a jar is one of the finest moisturizers on the market, for an extremely reasonable price. the percentage of people who find the scent of hope in a jar to be unpleasant, seems to be a small minority, so please don't let my mention of it keep you from trying this, (unless you're allergic to lavender, of course.) If you do find that it smells unpleasant for hour upon hour, you're not alone!
