Hope in a jar
PostedJuly 30, 2010
purchased hope in a jar for my daughter and she could not stand the smell. I tried to use it and did not care for the smell either plus it made my skin very greasy.

Hope in a jar
PostedJuly 27, 2010
I am new to philosophy products. I had been wanting to try them for years but the cost was a turn off. I finally broke down and bought the Makeup optional set to try it out. So far I love everything except the smell of the hope in a jar. it just ruins my morning and bedtime smelling it! some one mentioned "wet dog" smell and I agree...thats what it smells like. Not sure I will purchase any more of this. Love the smell of the eternal grace sample lotion I got....maybe I will stick with that.

Early impressions
PostedJuly 15, 2010
I received a sample size of this with an order I made, and decided to give it a shot.
Some people (a lot?) complain about the odor, but to me it simply smells very herbal. It reminds me quite a bit of the scent of something I tried perhaps 20 years ago from a very small company in Vermont, but Hope in a Jar has a much less potent scent to it. The odor, for me, is not all that bothersome (also nostalgic, lol). Then again, we all have different tolerance levels.
In terms of what it does to my face - I have to use this very, very sparingly. I tried using a smallish amount (compared to my normal moisturizer) and wound up with a shiny looking, greasy feeling face. I also seemed to get a couple of smallish dry spots, but I'm not entirely certain whether it's related. After switching to a smaller amount (by like half) and then dotting it on the areas that hadn't become greasy previously and then massaging it out, it's been working quite a bit better for me. The dry spots haven't returned, since switching to less product, less often either.
I'm still on the fence about this product - I've used it for about 5 days now (the first day both morning and night, and since then I've stuck to nights only). It hasn't caused noticeable irritation, the smell isn't strong enough to turn me off. My skin is pretty soft, but it's so easy to over apply and wind up looking and feeling greasy...
I've been using this with Philosophy's Purity cleanser, the Microdelivery Peel Pads (the big ones, cut into quarters), Hope Springs Eternal moisturizing spray, and Hope in a Tube.

Great products
PostedJuly 7, 2010
I have been using Philosophy for about 5yrs now and this moisturizer is the best i have ever used. My skin is in better condition now than when i was in my 20's and 30's and even my 40's. I am 51 but most people don't guess I am that old. Thanks for such wonderful products. This moisturizer is not greasy at all and just soaks into the skin and leaves it soft. all of your other products i have tried are equally as great! kudos philosophy!
