I have been buying a refill of angel for my star for over 20 yrs. Recently I was told they wont refill due to covid. Since when has it been scientifically proven that covid is spread thru a refill. Disinfect the outside of the bottle and its as safe as any means. I had to buy a whole new bottle at a much higher price. I feel this is the stores way of gauging the customers for more money using the virus as leverage. Such a shame.
Launched in 1992, Angel has always been a divisive fragrance. One glance at the 'love' or 'hate' reviews over on Fragrantica or Basenotes should be enough to convince you that the words 'blind purchase' and 'Angel' do not belong in the same sentence! I first discovered this in the late 90's after smelling 'A Men' - the men's version of this fragrance on a work colleague. The unusual blend of Patchouli, tar, caramel and other sweet notes was the most intoxicating, head-turning fragrance I'd ever smelt on a man, it wasn't remotely like anything I'd smelt before. That was on a mid-week. Fast forward to that same weekend, the highlight of my day off was to get my hands on a tester for 'Angel', the female version of this scent. One spritz, a short walk around the store and I was back to purchase the bottle. Have been wearing this on and off ever since. At its heart it's not overly dissimilar to the men's version, the Patchouli is still the predominant note, in fact the initial blast is pure Patchouli to my nose with an undercurrent of chocolate. After a few minutes I get fruit and musk, and finally the dry down...Patchouli mixed in with caramel, vanilla and tonka. The musk in here smells similar to the musk that used to appear in older fragrances from the 80's which you don't find in fragrances any longer. Overall Angel is a very distinctive fragrance that is never once run of the mill or generic, even all these years later. By the same token that also makes it instantly recognizable. If you wear this, most people will know exactly what you are wearing, despite the fact that it smells slightly different to my nose on every person I walk past who wears this (less and less common nowadays). This scent has been with me all through my first marriage, two long term relationships, and now my second marriage! This scent doesn't leave you with any bad memories or trippy nostalgia. It's nothing but good, happy, and, above all, SEXY. Every man I've ever met has loved the way this smells. EVERY SINGLE ONE. I left a sweater at a friend's once and her husband picked it up off the couch, took one whiff, and asked her to please buy this perfume because it smells that amazing. (she did!) Unlike other scents that remind me of other times in my life that I don't want to relive, Angel is ALL ME. Ever since I first bought it in 1998. I have numerous other fragrances that I also enjoy but nothing compares to Angel. I know I will always wear this fragrance. I absolutely love it.
