Not all powder foundations are created equally!

Finding a silicone-free foundation invariably means turning to powder foundations, and not all powder foundations are created equally! MAC's is one of the better ones. My skin is oily/combination which veers a lot more towards 'oily' during the warmest months. Blotting papers are literally a staple with me wherever I go. Although I won't go as far as saying I no longer need them, I do seem to be using less of them since using this foundation. The oil does break through eventually, but I get a good several hours shine-free before it does. The coverage is medium and easily buildable up to full coverage, whilst the makeup texture itself is velvety and has a matte finish. I always use a moisture mist after applying it and not just to help set it, but because it can look cakey otherwise, especially when it's anything more than medium coverage. Also, despite it hiding my pores well, it does unfortunately accentuate my dry/flaky patches, which even oily skin types (such as mine) are susceptible to, unless I stay on top of exfoliating and moisturizing properly. My guess is this could end up looking pretty awful on dry/dehydrated skin types unless you use a ton of moisturizer beforehand. One other thing worth noting is that you can apply this on top of any liquid foundation, which minimizes the 'cakiness' when trying to aim for full coverage, and in that case you just need to 'press' it onto your skin with the sponge applicator, once the liquid foundation of your choice has been applied and given a minute to sink in. Speaking of sponges, this comes with its own and is housed in a separate compartment under the foundation pan/built-in mirror, although I prefer applying with a foundation brush as I find it gives me the slightly lighter coverage that I'm aiming for. -> My ‘Nordstrom Beauty Top 7 must-have list’ (My 7 favorite beauty products of all time, focusing mainly on my purchases at Nordstrom) <- < 1. Hair Loss Treatment: Divine Herbal Hair Oil < 2. Concealer: ‘Mac’ - Studio Finish Concealer < 3. Lip Gloss: Clarins Lip Comfort Oil < 4. Mascara: ‘Lancome’ – Cilis Booster XL < 5. Anti-Aging Serum: Divine Herbal Facial Treatment Serum < 6. Mask: ‘Eve Lom’ – Radiance Transforming Mask < 7. Face Scrub: ‘Sisley' - Botanical Gentle Buffing Cream

JewelTone
The BEST Foundation
PostedSeptember 22, 2020
I have been using MAC fix for many years and I honestly don't know what I would do if it went away. It wears really well, feels invisible on, but really smoothes out your complexion. I have a very uneven skin tone because of freckles and sun spots and acne scars. (Not as bad as it sounds) This evens that all out. I use it with a brush, but the pad is excellent, too. Love, love, love this foundation.

A sales associate at your Mac counter turned me on to this a few years ago and I've been using it ever since. So quick and easy to apply.
