While I expected this Shalimar perfume to be strong, I was disappointed to find it forbidingly forceful and without the sweet spicy notes that I look forward to in a Shalimar. After using this a few hours, I felt I needed a shower as I smelled strongly of old, cheap, capricious, and cantankerous perfume. It reminded me of those cheap scents my sister and I bought at the corner store growing up.
Nordstrom should stock the Souffle De Parfum. The soufflé version is subtle and deliciously sweet, with the characteristic Shalimar spice undertones. As well, there are other Shalimar scents sold in Europe that do not make it here. If anyone knows the best way to communicate to Nordstrom directly about stocking this other version, please put it in your review as I will check back later.
What I did was, after some reluctance to part with a Shalimar, any Shalimar, I ended up exchanging it with Terre D'Hermes Eau de Toilette. This particular Hermes scent is meant for men, but it has a sweet, subtle, sexy earthiness that I loved, so I gave myself permission to use it! You could try it as a sample first to see if you like it. I highly recommend it for those who like spicy, earthy sweet notes.
This fragrance brings me back to my childhood and my mom. That is the reason why I bought this.

I was exciting to try this but it was not for me. At first spray I knew it was a scrubber. It has an acrid smell that was very hard to scrub off. I am not sure why women find this so wonderful, to me it was simply nauseating.

I am so grateful that we have a Nordstrom store in Spokane, WA. And they had the Shalimar parfum in stock. I am using this fragrance for special occasions as I use another fragrance for every day. Nordstrom never disappoints.
