very sultry, almost a little too much so. not a daily fragrance, only for special occasions. i've had friends be offended that the scent was too much, but if you want something sexy this is it. so glad Nordstrom carries it, very few stores do (and always seems to be out of stock in duty free stores at international airports).
This fragrance has long been a favorite of mine and I recently rediscovered it. This is the first time that I have owned it. The base note is Sandalwood; however, it is more than that. It starts with a touch of citrus with rose. There is coriander, vanilla and ambrette Seed (according to Chanel, I am not sure what ambrette seed is). It lasts very long on me, sometimes I will catch a pleasant whiff of it on a coat or other previously worn clothing. Silage or how far it projects is ideal for me, I feel comfortable wearing it to the office, the fragrance is always with me in a subtle way. I think that a man of any age could wear this, in fact, I would recommend it as a first fragrance for a younger man or a man that has not worn fragrances before. I love Rose and Sandalwood on men or women, so I could see how this would work well for a woman too, but I never feel that it is anything but masculine on me. It is worth mentioning that it will work well with Rose or Sandalwood scented soaps, creams and deodorants. I use it with Trumper's Sandalwood deodorant and I plan to obtain the Egoiste deodorant. I have a number of British made fragrances and I have chosen this one over them for about a month now, though I think that Floris 89 shaving soap pairs well with this.
I bought my first bottle of Egoiste in 1991. I always received plenty of compliments and one always knew it when she smelled it. A few years ago, I started looking for it again and had trouble finding it. I then found it at Nordstrom and quickly went and bought a bottle. It was like being reunited with a long lost friend. This fragrance is timeless, has nice staying power, and never fails to impress. I will be getting another bottle before long. Nordstrom is one of two department stores where I have found this. Thank you for staying with this one. It is greatly appreciated. I only hope they bring out an EDP concentration for this.

Chanel discontinued my favorite cologne a while ago. It's back and I couldln't be more pleased. The only place I could find the "original" was in duty free abroad.
