I first bought this when I was in Europe in the 1984 and was so taken with it. This is a very heady spicey fragrance that smells best in winter and the evening. If you like Opium, Shalimar and Cartier Les Must you will most likely like this. I own both the perfume as well as the eau de parfum and love them equally, use a small amount and be prepared for real staying power but not overwhelming.....except for the love in your life!
Chanel Coco is a feminine Spicy Oriental, softer (bit more floral, the peach and rose notes are outstanding to balance the woodier base notes) than others such as Opium. If you buy one true parfum in your life, make it Chanel Coco. The fragrance notes are exquisite from initial application through dry down.
Note: be careful not to mix up the Coco fragrance with Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle. Very different fragrances. I personally do not care for Coco Mademoiselle.
