I purchased Taboo after seeing swatches online and it looks even better in person. Full opacity was reached after one coat. Had some chipping but that was likely the top coat's fault. Wouldn't normally spend this much for polish but the color was too beautiful to resist.
Chanel's polishes are absolutely gorgeous, from the hidden, subtle elegant shimmer to the superior flowing formula that usually doesn't even require a 2nd coat for opacity. Worth every penny.
It is of no surprise that Chanel makes the best nail polish. Quality is key and you will find it here. The thickness is just right and bottles last longer than other polishes.
I do have one problem. Discontinuing colors. I always wear red nail polish (think Jane Russell) and have counted on Chanel to bring me the best of red that can be found. One season a few years ago, I switched from my normal red to a deeper shade called "Rouge Fatal." I wore it happily for a few years and received compliments everywhere I went for the richness of the color which was not too red but not too burgundy. About a year ago, it was canceled! I went to every major department store and bought all the bottles I could find. But alas, they do not last forever so I have had to start wearing a different red. It is called "Dragon" and is a beautiful red. It works well with my pale skin and is not too bright. But I miss "Rouge Fatal." I have tried every Chanel color that might work as a substitute but none have even come close. Most I have tried have had too much brown or purple in them.
My frustration comes from the fact that this is not the first time I have had a Chanel product canceled on me. My foundation has been canceled three times so far and my eye cream is being discontinued. If my lip liner color is ever discontinued, I will be lost.
My advice is this. If you find a color that you love, buy as many bottles as you can. You won't regret it. The quality of this polish is not to be matched.
Mysterious is a fabulous fall/winter color! It's a dark greyish/black color. Looks great on the nails. As always, Chanel polish goes on beautifully and doesn't chip very easily. I also use Deborah Lippman top coat for added shine and strength…another great product!
