My first pair of "the greatest shoes" was a disaster

I purchased these shoes at a shoe company that sells Allen Edmonds in Fredericksburg. I was so excited to own a pair of Allen Edmonds, as I'm a business professional, and feel that these are the shoes for a person who dresses well to have. They are in my size, and width, yet are so tight, my toes go numb from wearing them. I can't wear them hardly at all, especially if I have to walk around. They also squeak when I walk, so I'm just wondering what that is all about.

As a long time AE owner, these shoes really disappointed me. The size is too short and very narrow in comparison to other AE shoes and are hence extremely uncomfortable. The leather is stiff, cheap, corrected grain. What happened to the promise of using only full-grain, high quality leather on all the shoes? Also, why have sizing, if they are not the least accurate? Clearly AE has succumbed to market forces and are cutting costs and quality. A crying shame indeed.

Does not compare to other Allen Edmonds shoes.

I have a few pairs of AE shoes (about 6) and really enjoy most of them, but I am not happy with the Walden. This is a poor fit. I ordered my normal size, but I find the shoe narrow and a little short. I have worn the shoe a handful of times hoping that it would break in and get better, but unfortunately it has not. I find that I just don't wear the shoe because it is not comfortable, especially compared to my other AE shoes. In fact - I slid the shoes on the morning, but took them off before I left the closet.
I wish I had read more reviews of the fit before I ordered the shoe. I will probably contine to buy AE shoes (I have bought a pair since the Walden), but I will be sure that the fit is correct from now on.

Does Not Compare Well to Other Allen Edmonds Shoes

I own several other pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes (Park Avenue, Strand, Broadstreet, McAllister, etc. and a 10-D always fits me perfectly and I am always impressed with the quality of the shoes. However, the Walden runs very short and very narrow. If I had to guess I would estimate a full size smaller. Also, the shoe feels very stiff and the finish on the shoes makes them look almost like patent leather. Essentially the shoe just doesn't look very good either. I Would not recommend this model.
