Some of the worst pair of shoes I've had. Came with a rubber foam sole...looks very cheap. Very disappointed.

Not What They Seem

I purchased these shoes because I have several other styles in the same last, the 8 Last. These are not the same as the others. The fit was terrible, extremely uncomfortable, and they do not wear very well either. If you wear the 8 Last from Allen Edmonds, I recommend that you not purchase these shoes. I am now left with shoes that I do not wear, and cannot return due to wearing a couple of times. Extremely disappointed.

Great look, bad quality

These shoes look fantastic, however after wearing them once in the rain the toe cap area was ruined. The leather bubbled and cannot be fixed by any repair shop, making the shoe look disgusting and warped. Not sure if it's a common issue with these shoes or if it's just my pair, but I'd advise not to purchase these if you live in rainy places such as NYC.
In addition, these fit a bit wider than my other business shoes, including my other pair of AE shoes.

Where did the quality go?

I purchased my first pair of walnut Cliftons over 3 years ago and I couldn't be happier with them. Unfortunately, due to a lack of upkeep, they eventually needed to be replaced. I am shocked by the decline in quality of my favorite shoe brand. I sent back the first pair that were delivered because of creases, waviness, and inconsistencies in the leather color. Now I have a new pair that I accepted because I thought maybe I was expecting too much? The leather still feels like a lower quality, they squeak like patent leather, and they are creasing in the most awkward of places. There have been rumors that the quality of Allen Edmonds might have taken a hit since the company was sold off late last year, but I was hoping it wouldn't be true. This experience has made me very reluctant to purchase AE's in this price point ever again.
