Great shoe all around
PostedJanuary 10, 2016
This is my first pair of Allen Edmond dress shoes. I also own a pair of boots by AE. After a few days of general office use, I can say that this is an excellent shoe all around. The look, the fit, the quality are all exceptional. I'm confident this show will last for years with proper care. I typically wear size 11.5 or 12 but got these in 11 wide. And as always, Nordstrom customer service was too notch.

Excellent Fit and Style

Prosquality
This is my second pair of Allen Edmonds shoes from Nordstrom and they do not disappoint my discerning taste for excellence in shoes. They fit like gloves the first time I put them on making me pleased with my catalog purchase. They are just a tad wide for my 9D foot but a thicker set of socks fixed that issue. The espresso brown color looks good with a suit, wool slacks or even khakis on a casual day. I love 'em. But there was no cloth shoe covers in the box -- so one arrived slightly scuffed. A touch of brown shoe polish corrected that problem but it isn't up to Nordstrom standards. Never the less, these are worth every penny.

Prosstylish, handsome, well made
They were drop shipped from N.com because they didn't have my size in store. I've owned another pair for over 15 years now. I had replacement "rubber" soles put on for years and decided to have MFR restitch and replace the sole. when it came back the heel had moved so my foot wasn't in it's old spot and I couldn't wear them any longer. Probably a good idea to get new shoes anyway. Getting the exact size really matters so your feet don't roll over the sole and your heel is securely held in back. As the leather stretches the two halves where the laces go gets a little closer but your feet stay in the same spot on the sole so if feels like a molded shoe. They are a bit stiff in the beginning so I wear a winter thicker sock the first week to mold the shoe to my foot. I were these to Court and they have just the right amount of detail to go with any suit. I also have some with more elaborate detailing but this pair is a little less formal and I can wear it with slacks and a sport coat as well. Allen Edmonds also shine very well. There must be a preservative because it takes a few shines to really get them to glow. Shining them reminds me of the first few attempts to get combat boots to shine. The Nordstrom guys do a fantastic job by using some type of alcohol to strip the old polish then apply fresh Lincoln polish. The Lincoln is the key to a great shine. (sorry Nordstrom shine product). The eyelets have never come out on any AE shoes I own and in this pair I like how the uppers come up a bit higher. It protects the tounge from getting beaten up by the laces and as the leather stretches and the sides get closer it gives me a bit more protection during the winter. Clearly not water proof but I don't get rain or snow into my sock like other shoes that probably want to use less leather on the uppers. The leather is a bit thicker than the Italian shoes but I consider these to be daily use work shoes for the office. The thicker leather also means I get more years use because they don't get cut or scraped as easy as the Italian shoes. More years does not mean less stylish just means when you kick a stone or curb the toe doesn't cut or fade. It does mean that during the hottest par of summer they can be a bit warm. These shoes are fairly priced and Nordstrom offered me such a great experience that I wouldn't consider getting them from the web, If you need a sale wait until Nordstrom has their yearly and buy a few pairs. If you are young these shoes are an attention to detail that interviewers will notice and they will last long enough to be worth the suffering to pay for them.

Great shoe!
PostedNovember 16, 2015
Bought these in black and walnut. Fantastic calfskin dress shoe that definitely impresses. I've received plenty of compliments. Great for work and after work events as well. I use these to anchor a suit and sometimes wear them with jeans a button up for more casual outtings. I highly recommend putting polish on immediately after purchase to keep the leather soft and from scuffing. Highly recommend.
