Quality is an Issue

This is my fifth pair of AE oxfords and possibly my last. I have not purchased a new pair in about 5 years and I can state without a doubt that the quality has gone down. I have purchased AE shoes for the last 20 years and refuse to own any other brand, but this purchase has me considering switching. The leather is tougher/harder to break in, the small details within the shoe are missing and the inside sole has changed to a lower grade leather slab. I am extremely disappointed in my purchase. The sad part is I have worn them about four times in hopes they would break and fit just a little better. That was my mistake. AE needs to go back to focusing on their bread and butter, the dress oxford. I don’t mind paying the price, but I expect a step above the other ”American” brands.

The shoe is very comfortable, even initially. I was sizes at a store so the fit is great. For reference, my brannock size is 7.5d, where I’m just longer than 7 and one foot is fatter than D width. Went 7e and have been very happy.

Poor fit. Ordered a B width but this pair fits like a C. I have another pair of the same shoe and they fit great.

I’ve been wearing dress shoes every day for years, Allen Edmunds for the last few. I wish I had come over to AE sooner. These feel like old friends. They are comfortable and sharp looking.
