The size of the cap has been lengthened and I think it is a better look. I've only worn these three times so still going through the break-in phase. I was not sure about navy, but i really like the color of these.

If you have only one pair of dress shoes, make it a black Cap-Toe Oxford, the most classic and versatile of all. And if you're looking for value, Allen Edmonds is a great choice.
I just wish these came in 4E. The 3E is just a bit tight but a few hours with a shoe stretcher took care of that. Still, kudos to AE for offering such a wide range of sizes and widths.
You should be prepared to polish these shoes out of the box as the factory finish, while adequate, just doesn't bring out the gorgeous shine you can achieve by hand. Definitely use a mirror polish on the cap. And I prefer to lace my shoes using the straight bar method, so I swapped the AE laces for a pair of 36-inch laces.

Park Avenue Cap-Toe Oxford has been my go-to shoe for quite a long time. Every pair I have owned over the last 10+ years has performed well and looked great.

Nice shoes

I've owned these for a year now and I love the way they look. There's a black burnishing finish that is applied on the tip of the toes and around the stitchings. It looks amazing in the sun.
That said, there are a few things I've experience with this version of the PA. While it does fit true to size, the midnight navy leather is stiffer and takes longer to break in. In fact, my pair has been worn a lot and it will never be as comfortable as my other merlot pair. The leather does crease a little differently, as its stiffer quality produces more noticeable lines. However, you can greatly hide them simply by using a little Bick 4 or other conditioner. The only other sad thing is that the black finish does slowly get removed as you bump the shoes. It cannot be easily restored with polish, unfortunately.
Basically what I'm saying is the leather upper is not quite as comfortable as some of my other AE shoes, but it's not horrible either. It's worth it in my opinion just to show how beautiful these are. Get 'em while AE still is offering them.
