A few reviewers don’t seem to understand this hat is crafted from natural materials. It’s not water resistant nor waterproof — but, it is forgiving and can be reshaped. Don’t recommend it, I even dunked in a pool wearing my first Provence! It survived intact, sadly to be lost later. The perspiration band is comfortable and helps prevent chasing it on a windy day. I’m fond of the natural scent of it, its breathability, and both its wonderful shade-giving and color shade (nougat). There are less expensive hats out there, made of paper. But this looks and feels good on. You will enjoy it more with each wear!
I was excited to receive this hat in black, having tried it on in the store in another color. It was a splurge I had to consider for awhile before ordering. Well, I don’t know what happened, but the brim on this one is completely limp. It just hung all around my head, completely covering my face. Terrible. Sadly, it will be going back.

I purchased a Helen K hat 5 years ago and absolutely loved it. It traveled with me all around the world. After 5 years it's started looking tired so I decided to ordered a new one. Well, to say I am disappointed is an understatement. The materials used are half the thickness and quality and the one size fit's all is now smaller and too small for me. So disappointing when designers and companies cheapen their products. Sadly it looks like a $40 hat. I will return.
Beautiful style frames face, filters light while protecting from UV, breathes so not too hot, keeps shape, packing instructions and included travel pouch make this hat easy to take wherever you go. It’s expensive for me, but others I’ve worn do not look, feel, wear nearly as good. This is my third one over about 8 years and I love it!
