This balm works well at exfoliating the rough layer of cells that can build up on lips due to diet, weather etc. It is not meant for hydrating. You definitely have to apply something over this. In the long run it will help other products to penetrate. It smells/tastes a little funny because it contains a small amount of wine. The smell/taste isn't unappealing, just different then the typical fruity, sugary taste of most lip balms. Overall I notice a big difference in the smoothness and fullness of my lips when I use this 2-3x/week at night with another product over it.

I was surprised to read the bad review for this lip balm because it is just great! It has a light vanilla/floral smell and taste and the texture is silky and makes your lips feel so smooth. I love this and recommend it to anyone looking for an ultimate lip balm. It's not Chapstick - it is the opposite - lovely.

I purchased this after wanting it for a long time. I was really disappointed with the results. First of all, the smell was something i could not handle. It was extremely strong and very, very floral. I hate floral smells. It didn't even go away for a long time, so it wasn't something that after applied, the smell disappeared. Secondly, the balm leaves your lips very quickly, leaving you to have to reapply it very, very often. The texture of the balm is very nice, however. It is very thin and feels like silk. Very nice. It didn't cure my chapped lips and the smell was something i couldn't get over.
