Consformula has been altered
I used to buy this stuff every year - both the oil and the EDT. Nothing has garnered me more compliments nor has satisfied my need for a "vintage" style musk scent like this one has. All the major and common musk formulas have changed over the years due to certain restrictions enforced upon the fragrance manufacturers - no more nitro-musks and hence no more of their "substance" (mind you I'm not talking about deer musk or anything like that).
Now I know L'Oreal obtained Kiehl's back in 2000, but when I began to encounter TONS of bottles of the EDT in the mid-2000's, I bought so many that folks thought I was insane. I was merely taking advantage of a good deal while it existed. I've been in musk heaven ever since - well, until just a couple of weeks ago. I ordered the oil from Kiehl's along with the body lotion. Right off the bat, I noticed something was lacking - depth and longevity. WHAT?!?!
Well - I want to know what's happened to the familiar musk fragrance I came to adore/love and spread the news about? What happened to the "dirtier" opening? The longevity? The presence? What has happened? This used to be the best musk fragrance outside of Serge Lutens' Muscs Koublai Khan - very much in the vein of 60's and 70's style musks.
Maybe, like most of today's "safe" fragrances, this one has undergone a "trimming" or sanitization of sorts. Well, whatever has happened to it is gonna make me stock up on all of the "vintage" bottles of this while I can. Sorry Kiehl's - you made a mistake in changing an iconic formula. - wish I could love it like the older version.

Consdoesn't last very long
This is the only cologne I'll ever wear. Sweet, yet kind of dirty (in a good way). Though it's described as unisex, I find it to be very masculine. The only drawback is that it makes my skin a little bumpy if I spray it in the same place consistently. Oh how I wish that Kiehl's would make a musk deodorant!

I get compliments every day that I spray this musk on myself, and men and women always ask me where they can buy it from. The scent lasts pretty long. People still tell me how great I smell several hours after I apply it.

I mentioned above I would not recommend this product. This is because I want to keep it for myself! This is the most unique aroma I've encountered. Nobody recognizes it, but everybody loves it. So do me a favor, don't get this cologne :)
