Trouble taking off the boots
PostedNovember 10, 2016
Proshigh quaity, not for my feet
There's nothing wrong with the boots - just my arch/instep is too high and I struggled to get them off. Put them right back in the box and returned them. :(

Hunter boots

I have these in size 6 & use them for yard work. I love them. I bought these in size 7 so I can wear a liner w/ it. Either way they are the best.

High Quality Boots
PostedOctober 24, 2016
I’ve had the women's original tall gloss rain boots in graphite for almost two years now. Besides the pair I’m reviewing, I also have owned a pair of women’s original tall rain boots in hunter green (these are matte finish) for almost a year so I’ve had lots of experience with the brand. I live in Oregon where it rains most of the year so they have been well-tested. I did receive these boots as Christmas gifts because, at the time, they were not something I could afford. The price for Hunter rain boots is steep (upwards of $100 price depending on retailer and which boot you purchase) but if you have a need to wear rain boots often, I would most definitely recommend this brand.
After two years, I am happy to say that these boots have held up magnificently. I mentioned I wear them often, but more so in the fall and winter. I would say that I wear a pair of my boots at least three times a week, if not more, throughout the fall, winter, and spring. I don’t wear them often in the summer. After all this wear, my boots look almost as good as they did coming out of the box when I first got them. Up close and under inspection, there are a few scuff marks that aren’t noticeable from far away, normal wear on the bottom of the sole of the shoe, and slight misplacement to the hunter label on the interior heel of the boot. From anywhere further than about three feet away, none of this is noticeable. For scuffs and dullness, Hunter does sell care products for their rubber shoes. I have the boot shine which restores shininess well on my gloss boots, but I haven’t tested this product on my matte boots. Hunter also sells a rubber buffer that is, per their website, good for removing white scuffs, but I have not used this product.
The lining on the inside is made of quick dry knitted nylon. I must say: this might be one of my favorite parts about the boots. The inside seems so luxurious and the quality is so obvious, nobody can deny it. The seam on the inside of the boot has not frayed and looks new. The interior of the boot is like brand new, besides the part where some of the label was misplaced where my heel sits, but this occurs in most shoes. None of the seams on the outside show signs of deterioration which is super important for rain boots.
These boots have a rubber heel that is about3/4” thick which has proven to be very durable. The rest of the sole is also about ½” thick and has held up just as well as the heel. The foot bed is made of multi-layer cushioned sponge insole which has proven to be very comfortable for walking. I’ve worn these boots shopping, wandering around a pumpkin patch/farm all day, and walking around school and my feet have never been uncomfortable wearing them.
One of my other favorite things about these boots: they are waterproof to the max! I know that may sound like something that should be expected of all boots but I assure you that I’ve had many a pair that don’t make it through more than one rainy season or beach trip without a seam leaking or a hole wearing in the rubber at a bend in the foot.
Something you should know though is that these boots are not meant to be breathable. They are meant to keep the water out, which also means that they keep the sweat in. There is nothing that can be done to change this if you are looking for water proof boots so it doesn’t bother me much, I just make sure to let my feet air out when I can if I’m going to be wearing them all day.
There is a buckle on the outside of either boot for style. There is no actual function for this buckle because it is not capable of synching the thick leather. One thing I have seen some customers complain about is how much the buckle protrudes from the boot or that their buckles don’t stay fastened. I don’t have either of these problems. I synched my buckles as tight as they would go and they have not come undone. Aside from functionality, I think the look of the buckle is an aesthetic that some may like or dislike. I don’t see a problem with mine.
Overall, I love these boots. They have served me well in the rain many times and they are so easy to style. I would recommend these boots to somebody interested in them but I would mention that you must appreciate the quality if you are going to pay the price. Hunter wellies are top notch quality and you will get your money back in durability and longevity alone in the long run, not to mention all the compliments you will get wearing them!
