What do you do when you "over-purchase" in London and have fierce baggage weight restrictions on the return flight??? You pack this fabulous Longchamps bag !! It folds down to the size of a shoe and expands to hold all the shoes you just bought! I stuffed this bag full of 30lbs of "treasures" and checked it through on an international flight. The bag held up beautifully and I could not have been happier. The detachable strap made it easy to carry and the material, although lightweight, is very durable. The zipper allows for several different sizing options. The "Le Pliage overnighter" is very popular, but it does not have the sizing options or the strap, the two things that made me fall in love.
I love this bag. It is very nice looking, and very well made. It holds a lot of stuff, and is perfect for carrying on a plane. I am so glad I purchased this bag. Will use for years to come.
This bag is magic. I bought if after admiring my friend's on our shopping trip as I struggled to fit everything in my bag. It is classic, expandable, can actually carry a lot of stuff and is the perfect carry-on since it isn't hard cased. I used it as a travel bag for work and even as a diaper bag. Oh, and it can be folded up into almost nothing even though it's so durable. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner.
I think this bag will function well as a travel bag. It's relatively easy to re-zip the bottom half and turn it back into a medium-size bag. It hangs long once it's fully unzipped, which is a shape I'm not used to carrying but it does make sense rather than struggling with a wide carry-on down the airplane aisle. The leather feels very tough -- not luxe -- but perhaps this is necessary to adequately carry the weight? The clasps similarly don't have a great feel, which is surprising, given the price. Even so, I needed a navy carry-on that can handle the family's coats, etc., and this should do the trick.
