Blue or black?

The color on the dress is much darker than the picture shows - almost black. It would work as the proverbial "little black dress." The fit is fine. I would recommend it if the person wanted a "black" dress.

Definitely order this dress in size up, I am in between 6 and 8 usually and ordered 8 and 10. Size 10 was too big, Size 8 was fitted just right, a bit tight around middle. The Tawny Port color is a beautiful shade, not too red, not too bordeaux. The overall look is a bit "1930-ies moviestar".

Prosmad men classic
ConsPetite
I bought this dress for an early Oct. black-tie wedding. I did have to get the shoulders altered (by Nordstorm cost $30) since the top seemed to gape a bit under the arms. I could have gotten away with it like that, but altering it was much better. It was worth altering. The dress has a very classy yet sexy "mad men" look. I am 49. The dress would be fine on someone much younger, but also fine for someone older-- all depends how it is accessorized. I wore it with strappy silver sandals, no stockings, drop silver/diamond earrings, silver bangles. I got a lot of compliments. My dress looked classier & just as dressy as many of the floor length dresses at the event. The dress is practical as well. I plan to wear it to an xmas party with pearls and black patent leather pumps for a not too dressy look. The fabric is nice quality and weight.

The color is gorgeous, not purple, but more eggplant (color I wanted). The size 6 ran way too small, would definitely have to be an 8, or break/remove some of my ribs.
