The wax-like residue

I’ve never expected that a wash-off mask can be so hard to remove. It leaves a wax-like film on my face and makes my skin unbreathable. The direction “rinse with warm water” is misleading because you won’t be able to wash it off even with makeup remover. Funny formula of this product.
I've used several Mario Badescu products before but never been overly impressed, until I tried this one. I use it mainly to lighten the odd red/purple acne scar that can pop up on my chin or (more rarely) my forehead. Normally it's hormonal acne, but sometimes it can be due to excessive sugar consumption or a product that doesn't agree with me. The first time I applied was last week when very unexpectedly it reduced some acne that had been bothering me for a few days. Since then I've applied a second and third time, and my skin has almost totally cleared. I have no idea which ingredient in here is causing this (Zinc Oxide perhaps?) but it's a welcome surprise nevertheless. As for acne marks, I've seen a gradual improvement, not huge, but still noticeable. My complexion however has massively improved, I saw it straight after the first use. My skin has a strong yellow undertone that can easily turn sallow. The only thing that can rectify that is a good brightening product, and this mask has many of the best brightening ingredients: Licorice, Kojic Acid, Scutelleria etc. I apply for about 10 minutes, by which time it starts to feel very tight on my skin (it is a clay mask after all) and then wash it off. I have to agree with some of the other reviewers here - it's not the easiest to remove and leaves a oily film which only comes off with a wash cloth and a good cleanser. I guess that's the downside to a mask which combines multiple waxes with Mineral Oil and if there's one thing I could change about this mask, that would be it. Well, there is one other thing... I've never been a fan of their packaging but this masks' plain white, low quality tub with a wrap-around label that could've been printed on a home computer is just awful! This mask takes away any redness. It is such a great product. Have been a huge fan of Mario Badescu products for over 15 years and will always use them. So glad Nordstrom has the line!
