Great fit even for Wider Feet
PostedOctober 17, 2016
Prosadorable, versatile, comfy
I loved the sleek look of this Josef Siebel, but hesitated, because some reviewers had commented how hard it was for their feet to get inside the shoe. My feet have medium bunions, which make my feet wider than they are supposed to be. But I bought two Josef Siebel sandals of different design and love them. So I placed my order on Lindsay with three pairs by other makers, Oxford or flat heel booties.
Those three brands arrived first. They either were too narrow and hurt or, too wide, meaning, comfortable but my feet appeared really big & wide.
When I opened the box for Lindsay, I sssumed that it would not work. Imagine my surprise when I placed my right foot inside.
Yes, it took a little effort for me to get my foot in, but there was plenty toe room. Once my right foot was in, very comfy.
So, whatever design philosophy it is behind Lindsay, it worked on my feet - - fairly difficult to please. Amazing. Maybe the "small" shoe top opening is integral to the system, but it is totally worth it! Ankle part fits, so does the toe part. The best part: My feet look small and dainty in Lindsay! For a size 6.5, my feet ought to look small. But the bunions have deprived me of that aesthetic , because most shoe designers do not care to achieve that effect. The few of them care, but only to the extent of making the same shoe in Wide width. That fulfills the functionality goal at the expense of aesthetics. Only Josef Isebel (and another Indie style brand ) designers out so many thoughts into designing!

Best looking basic? Got it!

Prosalmost graceful, durable, comfortable, runs small
I need a black walking shoe that doesn't look clunky--something that has a low profile, like a sneaker--for cooler weather and which will last more than a year. Josef Seibel's Lindsay or Lindsay 2 could be it.
In spite of its low profile, the Lindsay 2 has a nice wide toe box and reasonable arch support. What it doesn't have is a removeable insole like the original Lindsay--if you need that. It runs small; I wear a 7 or 7.5 in most shoes but in every Josef Seibel I wear a 39, which is an 8.
So if you are looking for an oxford that really is for walking, especially in Seattle fall and winters, and if you wear lots of black, city-style, clothes when you do so, then look at the Lindsay or the Lindsay 2. It also comes in dark brown, to go with all of your olive and maroon and gray. You don't HAVE to wear heels to look good. Try one on. Returns are free at Nordstrom.

A favorite shoe
PostedJanuary 22, 2015
I've worn a brown Lindsay for a number of years. Wanted black for an upcoming trip. I ordered the 41, the size I normally wear, and the shoes were tight out of the box. Debated sending them back, but leather stretches so I kept them. After wearing them for a week, the comfort of a Joseph Seibel shoe was there. Good construction. Great comfort. And I'm glad I didn't exchange them for the next size. (I rated these runs small and runs narrow, but it could be the shoes I received.)
Love the flat sole, the center seam, and the tie, which lets me lace one shoe tighter than the other. All the same reasons I love my 6-year-old brown Lindsays.
