Great shoe however way too loud

I have owned AE shoes for 20 years, including Black Ashtons purchased 8+ years ago (which have been recrafted.) I own a total of 10 pairs of AE and will buy my boys their first pair here shortly (once their feet stop growing.) Ashton was by far the best shoe I've owned which led to purchasing a brown pair in April 2014 . I thought the squeaking mentioned in other reviews would be an anomaly, but I was wrong. I gave them several months to breakin, probably wearing them 10 times and the squeaking has not gone away. There must be something different with the leather vs my old pair. Will be contacting customer service to resolve.

Aggravating noise.

These shoes are great looking, fit perfectly, and are comfortable right out of the box. Everything was great until I took my first step in them and they started squeaking. I read a few other reviews that mentioned this issue but hoped it wouldn't be the case for me. It was. I work in a professional office and would be uncomfortable wearing shoes this noisy. I love AE's products but, honestly, this is unacceptable for this brand. I will be returning the shoes.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for the Ashton style. The “squeaking” noise you are hearing is sometimes caused by the leather on the eyelets rubbing against leather on the tongue. This noise does not indicate a problem with the construction of the shoe; it is natural for two types of leathers which are layered upon one another to make noise. Depending on the leather, applying a small amount of talcum powder or saddle soap can help reduce this, or simply breaking the shoes in.

Best rubber-soled shoe I've ever owned

The title says it all. These shoes practically feel as if they were custom made for me, and believe me, if you saw these feet, you'd realize how astonishing my claim is before thanking God that they were my feet and not yours.
I wore them to death, had them recrafted, and finally after the notorious winter of '13-'14 I have ordered another pair.
I like these shoes so much I'm toying with trying out a pair with hard soles, which is what I generally wear for business.

Great Airport Travel Shoe

Make no mistake, this is a work shoe, and a superb one it is . It is slightly too clunky for fine dining, weddings, etc.; and because of the full rubber sole could not be used for dancing. It would be perfect for lots of standing, walking, airport travel, and wet weather conditions generally. Additionally, it would be more attractive if it had the raised stitching in the toe area like the Bradley has. Not sure why AE doesn't do more of that?
