Default comfort shoes

I could almost live in these shoes -- but I can't, quite, because as comfortable, flexible, durable and handsome and they are, don't provide quite as much support in the upper as I need.
But that's just me. Other parts of me, however, particularly my insteps (preposterously high) and the orthotics I have to live in love the shoe. So I can't wear it every day, but on any given day, it's almost perfect.
I regret that AE doesn't offer more variety in its orthotics line.

Shoe soles squeaked

Despite AE's generally superlative product-line, this pair of shoes had surprisingly squeaky soles. Something not acceptable in a cheap shoe, or expected in a shoe of this cost and caliber. During out-of-town interview, and walking through hallowed halls where one could hear a pin drop, these shoes helped to break the silence and start light conversation, ...about the shoes. Thank you AE. Job might not have been mine without your help!

The fit is not what I expected

I was unaware that this style was more suited for othotics. The leather is not as pliable as my other 3 pairs of Allen Edmonds. Because of the additional depth the shoe rubs my ankle and is uncomfortable. I have persisted in wearing the shoes occasionally hoping the they just needed to be broken in. Alas, that is not the case(they are now relegated to the back of the closet). I am a life long customer and will remain so...I will just pay more attention in the future.

Great shoe

I love these shoes. I'm a big guy (6', 300lb), but walk a lot, sometimes 4 or 5 miles in a day. These shoes have held up really well and they're very comfortable. The leather is the best I've had in any shoe. Remember to give them a day or two of rest between use and they'll last a long, long time. This is my first pair of shoes from Allen Edmonds and I couldn't be happier. I'm ready to start replacing my other shoes with Allen Edmonds.
