Best Dress Sock Ever
PostedAugust 12, 2019
I have been wearing the Nordstrom brand over the calf cotton blend dress socks for close to ten years. They are by far the best I have ever worn, at any price. I have purchased many different brands costing $35 or more per pair, but never found anything I liked better. The fit is perfect, but to me they seem to run slightly larger than normal. I prefer the cotton blend over the wool ones offered. The colored band at the top makes it very easy to distinguish colors, especially navy and black.

These Socks Are The Bomb
PostedAugust 12, 2019
Love these socks, have worn them for years and keep coming back for more. Excellent value when stocking up (pun intended) during the Anniversary Sale. Thanks, Nordstrom, for keeping the quality up on this item.

Okay OTC socks...some drawbacks
PostedJune 21, 2019
What can I say? Socks are socks. I like mine over the calf because that way you don't have them collapsing around your ankles as the day goes on, with your hairy shins showing when you sit down and your pant leg goes up. I also like them to match the color of my pants, to provide a more seamless transition from leg to feet. The primary benefit of these socks for me is that they come in that light tan / beige / sand / khaki (whatever you want to call it) color that matches most of my casual pants. They're also mostly cotton, with only a bit of spandex, so they don't static-cling to your pants the way some over the calf socks can.
Other than that, to be honest, I am not too thrilled with them, for a few reasons:
1. The stitching across the toes is ragged and hard, and will cut you the first several times you wear them. I had to wear them inside out for a while, until the stitching was softened by enough washes.
2. The material is cotton, not wool, yet costs just as much as their woolen cousins. The wool socks are superior in every way: they are softer, moisture-wicking, do not retain odors, and most importantly, do not shrink easily. Which brings us to the most critical point:
3. These will shrink over time. I wash them cold and hang dry, but even so, you can tell how long I've had a pair of these by how much they've shortened. After a while, the'll be too short to cross the meaty part of your calf, and then instead of a proper over-the-calf fit, you'll just have a bunch of material constantly sagging around your ankles. You would have been better off just getting a regular mid-calf sock, as at least when those sag, there's not so much material present.
I'm still buying these semi-regularly due to the aforementioned color match, but as soon as Nordstrom makes their wool socks in that light tan color, I'll just go that way and won't be looking back.

Great quality

These are fantastic over the calf socks. I ordered XL . Other lesser quality socks aren't sized properly. I believe Nordstrom's sizing is more correct. Should of ordered the large as I am a 12W and the site recommended large.
