this is my 2nd pair of Roars. my first pair were the oiled brown version. i'm pretty fussy about the fit of my shoes and these amazed me by being absolutely comfortable RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. NO BREAK IN REQUIRED! very supportive as street-shoes (i would not expect these to work as real hiking boots).
i will mention that the black leather is a little stiffer than the brown, so they black ones initially felt a little more snug across the instep compared to the oiled brown, but they loosened up nicely and feel great now.

This is my second pair of Roars. They fit like an old glove almost immediately and the soles wear fairly easy but I got over 2 years out of my last ones. Like all Clarks you might order a size down from what you normally wear. I wear a 13 in everything except Clarks I wear a 12. Have owned at least 10 pair of Clarks over the last 10 years. Great shoes.

I ordered the BROWN OILY NUBUCK online and I was disappointed when the shoe that arrived did not match the color as the one shown in the online photo. The shoe that came was a much lighter redish-brown leather shoe (see this shoe for color visual "Red Wing '8196' Round Toe Boot"). It's a shame because I really like the dark-brown leather shoe they have shown as being the BROWN OILY NUBUCK color. So I returned the shoe thinking someone made a mistake and sent me the wrong color. When I ordered it again, sure enough, the same redish-brown shoe arrived. I returned it for a second time and now I'm left looking for a comparable dark-brown shoe at another retailer.

I've had these for about a year now and I can say they are by far the best shoe I've ever bought. They wear amazingly and for being a year old, look as good as new. Goes well with pretty much any outfit you're putting together and are the most comfortable shoe ever. A must have for sure.
