I bought a few of this Smartwool variety last year and wore them often with casual(ish) wear. Though they wore quite well, I favor the slightly thicker/cushioned styles for my running workouts - due to their greater durability and warmth (and fit with running shoes.) These particular cable knee highs worked esp. well with my heavy lined winter boots, in which case I didn't need too much additional warmth - as I do for example with my running and lighter/unlined boots and booties. These also work well if you need a thinner, less bulky sock for better fit with certain footwear. I tend to wear Smartwool socks more often for my outside athletic wear, so I didn't appreciate this style as much as I did the even more casual/outdoorsy/thicker styles that were especially welcome on my runs in subzero degree days.
I like Smart Wool and I am so glad Nordstrom is carrying them. They fit nicely, they are comfy and warm Work nicely on a hike, and they are made in the USA. I like that. Thank you Nordstrom for carrying Smart Wool.
