1. Frye boots may seem a little pricey but they have great longevity. They will last you for years and still look great.
2. The slate color is a combination of gray, brown, black all in one boot and has the distressed look, which is my style. I also own the other colors and love them!
3. They are comfortable, I have walked all day in them and just have always had great comfort and support.
4. They are true to size.
The only thing that might bother you is that you have to break them in. Just like any good, long lasting leather shoe they need to be broken into for lasting comfort.
This is the first time I've tried an extended calf style boot. Typically I need a style that has elastic/stretch material to get over my calf, which isn't a large size. Proportion-wise based on my 5'0 height, this style fits better and it looks great! It doesn't "look" like an extended style at all. Also the color is beautiful. It's comfortable to walk in and the quality is fantastic.
Just got these boots in the mail last week and they are perfect. The cognac is a gorgeous color and they only took a few days to break in. The leather is thick and high quality and fits well around my slimmer calves.
