The McAllister is a great shoe for daily wear. It features the quality you would expect from Allen Edmonds. Ther walnut pair that I recently purchased took almost no time to break in, and I find the color even more vivid than the pictures online portray. I have only one complaint, and it has more to do with Allen Edmonds belts than with these shoes: in walnut leather none of AE's belts is a color match for shoes in walnuy leather. The belts are much too light. I had to return my Wide Basic Dress belt and purchase another brand to get a true color match. According to the salesperson that helped me this has been an issue with walnut specifically for some time.
Excellent, well-made, sharp shoes which live up to Allen Edmonds well-deserved reputation.
The McAllister model is a wingtip - a timeless American classic and one every man should have in his wardrobe. These look particularly good with a charcoal grey suit, as the colour is a little darker than how it appears online - a pleasant surprise in my opinion.
If you've never pulled the the trigger and purchased a pair of Allen Edmonds, I'd strongly encourage you to consider it. Sure, pricier than your average $100 dress shoes. But the fit (given AE's various shoes width sizes plus half sizes) is far better than any of the others I've experienced and the leather quality (full grain) and craftsmanship is leagues ahead of anyone else - all other shoes look cheap and plasticky by comparison. Walking feels great due to the good fit (but they're leather soled dress shoes, so not meant for roaming the city all day).
Anyhow, these, and the other AEs I've purchased from Nordstrom are the best shoes I've ever owned - and never fail to get compliments - the quality is that evident.
Wow. Allen Edmonds has a special touch to them. They look great but are built in a way that allow them to truly last a lifetime. The McAllister are a blend of sophistication and style.
