Bought the Strand Cap-Toe Oxford for my son's wedding and they arrived promptly as advertised. They fit very comfortable and were dance-ready. Received numerous compliments for the shoes and they definitely outshined other more expensive brands at the occasion.

Love the Strand. It is my favorite AE style and I have it in several colors. My most recent addition was the blue. I found it to be almost black in normal light, but in bright light the blue is more apparent. It is a great choice!

Gorgeous shoe, BUT...

It's a quality shoe that you'd expect from AE and the Oxblood color is really sharp. The problem with the shoe is the height of the ankle collar on the outside of the shoe and it cuts into your lateral ankle bone. I didn't notice this in the store when walking on carpet. Once I wore them on a hard surface for the first time after purchasing my foot must have settled into the sole and then the side of the shoe started to dig into my ankle bone. There was so much pressure that blisters formed and eventually tore open later in the day. I called AE and they said add an insole to in order to relieve the pressure. That does help but as a result the overall fit of the shoe becomes less comfortable due to the lack of space in the shoe now with the added insole. Still searching for a heel lift product that alleviates the pain from the high lateral side of the shoe but doesn't take up so much room in the shoe. My other AE's don't seem to have this problem so I'm not sure if it's common with the Strand or just a defect in this shoe.

At Last...

I've had my eye on these for some time now, and I finally (with the encouragement of my girlfriend) pulled the trigger on them. Though I've only worn them a hand full of times, they're starting to get really incredibly comfortable. Looking forward to the uppers relaxing a bit, as they're a little stiff still. I'm not a "jeans and sneakers" kind of guy, so finding classy, well-made Oxfords is a must for me.
First pair of Allen Edmonds purchased new (I have a pair of Badlands I bought as seconds) and they absolutely live up to the hype.
