Same level of class and finish as many more expensive shoes. Also high level of comfort for a dress shoe, and you can have them pretty much forever, as Allen Edmonds will replace or refinish every part of the shoe for much less than the cost of buying new shoes. A great investment!
There is no better value Goodyear welted shoe on the market. Period. I've read some reviews that the AE quality has become hit or miss but the shoes I got were perfect. Individually wrapped and smelling like success, the unwrapping the shoes for the first time was definitely an occasion. I ended up going with the Strands in the 5 last. Even though I have flat feet and the 5 last is good for high arches, the shoes still fit comfortably after 4 wears and I can imagine them breaking in slightly more as I wear them.
