Purchased these during the anniversary sale for my husband in black. This will be his 3rd pair of Strands. He travels for work and won't wear any other shoe. These are well-crafted and timeless. They hold up to all weather very well and you can take them in to get them re-soled when needed, for 1/4 the price. Highly Recommend.
This is my first venture into AE shoes after years of wearing Ecco and Cole Hans. I wanted to invest in quality shoes that look sharp, fit well, and provide years of use.
The shoes fit well in the store, but I was a bit hesitant when the sales rep sized me at a 10 when I normally wear 11 for Nike/Adidas. Given the generous Nordstrom return policy, however, I gave it a shot.
Honestly, the first week was rough. Both pinky toes were bruised and both fibula bones had scraped skin on the first day I wore these at work. I was so close to exchanging for a 10.5 if the following week was the same story, but luckily it wasn't.
My toes were not as scrunched up anymore but I still had to wear band aids on my fibulas. That being said, the shoes worked out after all!
I'm glad I stuck it through and let the shoes break in a little. It's only been a week but they feel 100% better than the first day I wore them, and I'm sure they'll only feel better as time goes on.
Allen Edmonds dress shoes are always high quality and worth the price. The last used on the Strand Cap Toe Oxford (and several other models) never changes and I can order any model with that last in my size and they always fit perfect.
Loose thread on heel, one inch, sole dye mark on lower portion of leather, and numerous small scuffs--beside these quality control issues by the shoe manufacturer it would be a great shoe. If it were not imperative for me to wear the shoes this weekend, they would be returned. "COME ON MAN"!
