Cigar- One of The Best AE Colors

Had these [Cigar Strands] made to order with Walnut Dainite soles and it looked incredible. Flawless crafting on these strands. I would say AE does pay more attention to quality control for made to order shoes. Also, what a great color the [Walnut] dainites are. Should be standard on the brown dress shoes & boots. Looks way more exquisite compared to the regular black dainites.

Horrible quality control

Was really excited for these, but the pair I received were worse than seconds. The welt weaved in and out of the groove and the color was super uneven. Returned. Guess what people say about AEs quality control is down the drain are correct. Shame that American craftsmanship has fallen by the wayside.

Mostly Feel Good About This Purchase

I just received my pair of strand cap-toe oxfords in Oxblood.
The uppers are mostly as expected. Although I did see a spot where the stitching was sticking out. Easy fix: I've got some scissors that can nip that.
And then there was the welt and outer sole which really showed me that quality control might be a concern, at least in terms of execution on the final details not so much in the construction. I saw areas where there is some shading along the outer sole, which you would expect to see after maybe 15-20 wears along the toe and heel. It's not a *major* issue where I'll need to return it, but I wasn't expecting having to apply edge coloring to cover up the lighter spots before the first wear.
I still recommend this product as it's an overall good product for the price point.
