Walnut Strand Cap-Toe Oxford

I purchased the Strand in walnut and absolutely love the color. They fitted me perfectly for my size 11 feet. Very comfortable. No sign of defects or damaged.

Excellent craftsmanship, hard to break in

Quality and craftsmanship are truly excellent, but unfortunate the fit and comfort leave some to be desired. The right shoe in particular feels tight in the toes despite being measured to be the correct size. One other AE shoe had the same issue but it eventually broke in after a few months.

Cigar color is odd

The Cigar color is an odd finish—not quite what I expected. The pair I received doesn't look much like the photographs on the website, which to my eye show a dark (but warm) brown. The pair I received has sort of a marbled and splotchy look to it, especially on the sides. Instead of a warm dark brown as pictured, the pair I received has a mottled yellowish/gold undertone throughout. I'm not sure if I'll keep this pair. (I haven't worn them so I cannot comment on comfort in this review.)
