Why the side zip?
PostedDecember 23, 2012
ConsWide width
Timberland's sizing was right on target with my normal shoe size. The fit was comfortable; and the leather not only felt great out of the box, but also had a great finish which the floor example showed would develop good character very quickly.
Too bad the side zipper does not loosen the boot enough to allow you to put the boots back on without also having to loosen the boot laces. I also suspected the fabric lining and rubbery insole would cause the boot to hold too much heat for comfort, but I returned them before finding out.

Prosversatile
ConsWide width
This is a very comfortable boot. It runs large and is also a bit wide. The side zip isn't my favorite style, but it does help with the on/off. Not the best leather but good enough, especially given the price. Not the most attractive boot, casual clothes only.
The recycled content is also pretty awesome! Very squishy rubber.

Great boots, not durable
PostedDecember 2, 2012
Prosnot durable
ConsMedium width
These boots area great, except if you plan to wear them regularly, then you'll wear through them quickly. I've gone through two pairs of these boots in a year, and I have no intention of buying a third pair. For nearly $200 I think it's reasonable to expect a product to last more than 6 months, but 6 months in the rubber sole wears through and the footbed starts to break down.
If you're looking for something durable, try AE, you might spend twice as much, but they'll last 10-20x as long.
