La Mer Foundation: Heavy for Summer
PostedJuly 7, 2016
Prosheavy for summer, medium coverage, for dry skin
In my hunt for a warm weather summer foundation, I requested samples to try finish, feel and shades, instead of ordering and returning. Beauty Stylists and counter were very helpful and generous in providing samples, I recommend this approach. La Mer Porcelain was a little dark for my combo fair skin, a light application didn’t really cover some redness or do anything for me. I tried it alone over serum, and with a matte primer and blotting powder but after an hour my skin looked shiny and felt greasy, couldn’t wait to remove it. Not for summer heat and humidity. Perhaps better in cool weather when my skin is drier, but at this price, there are many other options, as I've discovered.

Proslight, pricey
I enjoy the la mer foundation because it is medium coverage and yet extremely light weight. Beautiful product. Will repurchase. Wish color names were more descriptive. I am a medium neutral complexion and purchased Linen. Linen seems to have yellow undertones, but works nicely for me.

NUTS!

Out of all the high end foundations out there La Mer was the only one that I have found so far to match me! Cream is my color. If you are oily this will not stay at all. I set my foundations with LM power & they don't budge and usually last for 6-7 hours. I looked like I sprayed my face with a lot of setting spray. For something that cost $91(after tax)it should be like concrete! Had to return. Super bummed!

This foundation was not for me. I have combination skin and I normally use Makeup Forever Mat Velvet and Dior Nude foundation. I typically prefer a full coverage long wearing foundation but am open to a sheer coverage as well for off days running errands. This foundation the texture was very oily, I purchased the La Mer setting powder and used a lot to set this foundation with. At the end of a 8 hour day my foundation was gone, for the price I would expect not to look a hot mess by the end of the day. I think this would do well for someone who wants a very sheer coverage or has extremely dry skin. For a second skin look, the Makeup Forever face and body is better.
