this polish is a pinky nudish sparkly glitter with larger round particles with a clearish colored base. i like it because it's not overly packed with glitter and it has those larger sparklies in it. i wanted a nudish sparkly glitter polish and this is perfect! one coat is good enough for me just to have a little sparkly on my nails, but you can build the sparkles with more coats.

I ordered Happy Birthday thinking it was going to be a cute, fun glittery color, it's glittery but it's difficult to apply: you have to carefully and meticulously apply it so that the glitter goes on evenly with no empty spots. Then, once you have it on, it feels scratchy when rubbed against clothing and it's sooooo difficult to remove. If you like the color I recommend having it applied and also removed at the salon, that is, if you can put up with that "chalk board" feeling. Also, I think it looks better on the feet rather than hands, if you're older. If you're young it looks good on either! I tried it on my daughter and it looked super cute, but of course I removed it right away beore it dried because I didn't want to have to deal with removing it from her little fingers later on.

Initially I thought it was a bit "pricey" for nail polish...buuuut you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Seriously. I purshased "superstar" painted my toes for Thanksgiving...I wore it without touch ups THROUGH NEW YEARS!!! In fact, I just removed it yesterday 1/28/11!!! Both my nail technician and I both COULD NOT BELIEVE it lasted that long! I am so buying more colors.

I love this brand of nail polishes. However, I purchased the Ruby Red and was slightly disappointed that the color was not red sparkle on red, but rather red sparkle on a translucent black. After two coats the product dried with an amazing show of beautiful red sparkles, but I felt the black darkened the look. Rather than looking like a cohesive blend of sparkle and color the polish ended up looking like red glitter polish over black polish. I am completely satisfied with the overall quality of the product because nothing sparkles more than Deborah Lippmann, but the color would be better if it were red on red.
