I am a huge fan of Cole Haan shoes and love the quality and the style options. These are no exception. The mahogany, smooth, shiny finish and apron detail has a lot of character. These aren't my primary go-to shoe, but they come a close second. My only two issues with this shoe is that they are very slippery. Even after some light wear, the soles are very slick on ANY surface. The first day I wore them I slipped and fell in my house. Second, the leather can be a little hard and uncomfortable at first. I'm sure it will change over time, but I have noticed when it's cold, the leather is stiff and hurts my feet. The leather becomes more comfortable throughout the day though. Overall I would recommend these shoes for a more unique look.

I saw the Cole Haan Calhoun Oxfords were selling on line and they appeared very nice so I purchased a pair. Upon receiving them, I was disappointed in the quality and the apparent toughness of the leather. I subsequently returned them.

Low Quality in Looks and Feel

I get it. The photos make the shoes look like they are a great deal: classic style, and hey, they are Cole Haan at a decent price. Why not make the purchase? That's what I thought, and so I bought a pair in black and one in brown.
These shoes are terrible. Worst shoe purchase I've ever made. Thank God for great return policies. The first pair (brown) fell apart within a 1/2 mile walk from the train station to my office. I didn't even chance the second pair. The brown leather was so split up on the one pair ... I couldn't believe it. They fit well, but I should have known due to the questionable (and oddly overly shiny look) quality/feel of the leather.
I've purchased other Cole Haan shoes with mostly positive results ... but these were just horrible.
I've been buying Cole Haan shoes for years and the Calhoun Oxford has been my go-to shoe most recently. The leather has a nice shine to it and the soles wear well. Great fit and look even better!
