Terrific coat

Prosclassy looking
I purchased this coat on line after seeing it in the store, larger size. I chose a medium, which fits well, however a little tight in the arms. Not sure if i can wear it with a suit. I am short, 5 1", and the length was fine. i chose black, which seems to help me look thinner. The fabric has a sheen to it and is of nice quality. i like this coat so much,I'm wearing it to work tomorrow!

Great looking but lacks basic functionality

Love how this coat looks - very chic and stylish. However, the fabric does not breathe at all so I find myself sweating if the weather is even slightly moderate. The hood falls down as you are walking because there are no toggles to keep it a bit closer to your head and there is no way to close the top portion of the coat if the wind picks up or it gets colder. All-in-all, they gave us a great looking coat and if you put it on for just a minute for a photo you will love the look. If you actually want to use it around town you will find yourself fighting against the poor design elements the entire day.

Prosstylish
I read the reviews on this coat before purchasing it and bought it based on that- I must say I am soooo pleased I did! I have survived rain storms without being wet AT ALL and its the perfect weight for fall time in NYC at night/during the day as a jacket (especially on windy days) . It's a classic trench, made very well and I love that its Nordstrom exclusive so not everyone has it!

I agree with other reviewers that this trench is much better looking that similar trenches from other manufacturers. The waterproof fabric has an additional advantage that it does not collect white fibers (as another black trench that I ordered did). I ordered two sizes, and while Small looked perfect over a sweater, shoulders were two narrow if wearing over a suit. I kept Medium. The Medium was different from Small in two respects: 1) Medimum's lining was in animal print (always cheap looking for my taste), while Small had black lining; 2) Medium's top fabric was of an inferior shade of black -- not jet black like Small, but a brownish/faded black.
