These are rigid enough to actually do minor hiking but also comfortable and stylish enough for everyday wear. I am normally a 9/9.5 wide but Merrell sneakers I find are more narrow so I normally go with a size 10, this shoe however fit perfect and not snug in the width, I ordered a size 10.
I have had 2 pairs of similar version of these shoes, first pair was the best it had real shearling, I wore those out. I found another pair at the Merrill store but it had a synthetic lining, did not like that as much. This pair is the closest to the first pair I had. The fit is great and I like the color. The are not stylish but the are very warm. If you are looking for a comfortable warm sensible shoe that you can slip on and off easy, these fill that bill.
I've owned a pair of Merrell mules (sheepskin) for more than a decade. I tried Haflinger, UGG & other brand name slippers this winter but with no success. Too short, too long, too narrow. The newer Merrell slippers are narrower than the previous pair I owned so unfortunately I had to return them. Could also be my feet are wider. If you love arch support, sheepskin lining, good rubber soles in a great indoor/outdoor shoe/slipper Merrell Encore Ice Mules are a good purchase.
