This boot is stylish and well made. I ordered the cigar color which was lighter in color than the photos show (in a good way).
My only problem is the fit. I have a slightly wide foot but I don't need wide sizes. I wear size 10.5 or 11 in running shoes. I have a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers. When I purchased the IR's, I tried size 10 but they were way too narrow. I settled on size 10.5 IR's. They're too long, but the width is great.
Per reviews, I ordered the Beckman in the same size as my IR's (10.5). Unfortunately, they were too big. I returned them and I'm hesitant to try a smaller size. I'm afraid Red Wing's sizing just won't work for me.
Overall I am very happy with it. I did not find that it required extensive break in. For one thing, I wear them with crew socks, so I have more padding than with socks. I am usually an 11 with a Brannock device wearing thin socks, but I got these in 10.5 and find that they fit well. I bought the Cigar color, which in reality is noticeably lighter than the photo on the Nordstrom website. I think the Red Wing site has a more accurate representation of the color, which is more of a tan.
I like that the toe is a little bulbous. The boots were appropriately snug around the ball of the feet when new, and gave my toes ample wiggle room.
shoes look great. I bought these for the winter and they have lived up to the red wing name. Remember these do take time to break in so dont feel like you can walk in them all day right away. Mine got softer after every wear. these are the some of the simplest and cleanest boots i have and i have now become my new favorite. the laces are a little waxy they make your hands sticky when you first lace them up.
These are true to size when compared to the Red Wing Iron Rangers. I'm a true 11 and have multiple pairs of Iron Rangers in 10.5 as recommended to downsize. I first tried the Beckman's in 10.5 but they were far too tight. Nordstroms has excellent customer service and allowed me to exchange for my true size 11. They were immediately comfortable.
The Beckman's have a dressier look which is great for wearing to the office.
