This is such great conditioning cream, you only need a touch of it! Which means it will last much longer than your typical wax for leather. I also used it to bring some life back into an old wallet and now it looks like new! Anyone who owns a pair of leather shoes should have this and a brush on hand, it will keep them looking brand new for a long time
I searched long and hard for a leather conditioner/protector that would NOT change the color of my boots. I have some other heavy duty waterproofing stuff (that I apparently am not allowed to mention here) that I love to use for my black boots. However, I have seen before and after pictures and holy moly, it will RUIN your brown boots.
I used the Frye product on my beat-up, water/salt stained fading cognac leather boots and it made them look a million times better. It did darken the leather very minimally - not enough to where it bothered me one bit. It did not do anything to take away the rich reddish brown tone of the boots.
I used my fingers to rub it in rather than a cloth as some reviewers on other websites suggested and it worked great. I used about a fifth of the tin, MAYBE, so this will last me a long time.
As far as actual waterproofing, I haven't tested it out yet. I think it will make your leather more water resistant rather than waterPROOF. Either way, it will bring the life back to your leather and you shouldn't go jumping in puddles unless you're wearing rainboots anyway. If I can I will update after trudging through a bit of snow!
