overall nice boot for the price. initially felt snug but loosened right up. also looking at the sole on-line it is a little misleading. it was hard to tell what the mateial is or the the sole's pattern (lugged vs. smooth). It is moderately stiffer rubber modeled after car tire. finally there is little to no cushioning. personally that is not a big deal but if you need cushioning in you shoe i woudl look elsewhere

I got exactly what I was looking for with the JV Chukka boot, something I could wear casually with Jeans or khakis that would dress it up without being a dress shoe. This Chukka boot arrives with just enough distress to look worn and classy at the same time. I am not crazy about the tire tread sole as it has a somewhat slippery connection with the ground. I prefer an Ecco or a vibram style sole. Those are dead quite when walking white the JV tire tread clack a bit. That being said, it is still a go to shoe that can take a beating and always look great. Most likely Ill look for something in a brown to expand my selection
