I purchased this as a bridesmaids dress for my friend's wedding next month. I originally purchased a size 4 last September because I had just had my son in June. When I went to have it altered about a week ago (at nordstroms) they wanted to charge me almost $100 just to take it in & do the hem!!! The seamstress suggested going down to a size 2. Just fyi, I am 5'7" & weigh 127...I am however, a 32DDD/34DD. So I was REALLY worried that a size 2 would be too tight in the Bust! But decided to chance it anyway. I got the size 2 & took both sizes to Nordstroms to see which would be best & the seamstress agreed that the 2 was a MUCH better fit!! While it was a little tight getting the zipper up (near the top) she is adding 3 additional hook & eyes to provide more security and prevent the zipper from breaking! While I did still decide to have it taken up about 1"(due to my shorter legs), that was the only alteration needed....Phew!!!
Overall, happy with the dress and it looks really Elegant! I just wished Nordstrom would not charge so much to do the alterations, but they consider it a "Fancy" dress. At least I get it back in notes ;-) Glad I allowed enough time to order the new dress etc, even though I'm cutting it close.
I bought this dress to wear to a friends wedding. Although it is a "bridesmaids dress" I found it timeless enough to be able to wear a a guest of a wedding. The fit is beautiful, and the runched fabric hides an imperfections! I am 5'2, 137, with a very curvy frame. I got a size 6. This dress was tight enough on the top, but fit my bottom half nicely without being too tight. Definitely recommend this dress!!!!!
I love the simplicity of this dress! I wore it for a friend's wedding and it was perfect! I got the emerald green color and it was beautiful. Definitely a great buy.

Don't Understand All The Rave Reviews

I have to wear this dress as a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding, and purchased it for that reason. After seeing it in person and trying it on, I don't understand all the positive reviews. Yes, the ruching disguises lumps and bumps, but shape wear can also do that very effectively. The way the ruching is done in the lightweight chiffon fabric gives the dress a bit of an old-fashioned lampshade look, especially below the waist, and adds a lot of bulk and puffiness, especially when viewed from the side. Pretty, yes, but slimming, no. The horizontal ruching, coupled with the straight-across strapless neckline, also creates a whole lot of horizontal lines across the body, which I think visually makes one look wider than they actually are - kind of like horizontal stripes. The version of this dress with the asymetrical one-shoulder is much more flattering, because the asymetrical line breaks up all those horizontal lines a bit and is lengthening and slenderizing. The dress is also cut somewhat strangely. Unless you have a very strong hourglass shape, to get the dress to fit in the waist requires that you purchase a bigger size - and then it's huge around the bust and hips. All in all, this dress is probably reasonably flattering on women with a slender hourglass shape, but in my opinion is not flattering if you are a bit thicker in the mid section or even just have a straighter shape. Just don't understand all the rave reviews on this one. I'm nonetheless giving it 3 stars because I do think it's very well-made and reasonably priced. I'd give it only 2 and a half stars if that were an option.
