Fantastic

I'm not a small woman. I'm 5'8 and 190 worked out until I could fit in the XL. I shopped forever for a dress for my daughters Cape Cod wedding last July. The wedding colors were coral so the shade of blue was perfect. I wore full body spanxs and felt amazing. It was flowy and flatterying all at the same time. I had some fabulous earrings and a bracelet that really popped in the pictures. It flattered my waist and helped camaflouge my stomach. The neckline is so interesting no necklace is necessary. I felt beautiful . Furthermore, the girls at Nordstrom treated me like I was a runway model. I so appreciated their support !

After months of searching for a dress for my son's wedding, I gave up my preconceived ideas and started searching based on reviews. I told myself I wanted to look elegant, and 20lbs thinner. This dress received so many outstanding reviews, I figured it was worth a shot. I am 5'7", curvy, and between a 14-16. Every other dress made me look dumpy, and I must have tried on about 50 dresses. Ordered in a L and XL. (BTW, online was out of the XL, but if you call any store, they can find store stock that doesn't show up on the website and they mail it to you). The XL was huge on top to my surprise, but the L was perfect. The dress looks awful pulling it out of the box...this misshapen blob of fabric. Then you put it on. No, I don't look like the size 0 model in the picture, but my daughter's reaction when I walked down the stairs was priceless ('Holy skinny!'). She told me she wasn't going to allow me to look at another dress, because I look stick thin. Not sure about stick thin, but the ruching hides a multitude of sins and it does make me look MUCH thinner than I am. It also makes me look taller and, yes, elegant. The sleeves hide my upper arms, I don't look chesty (thankfully), and every lump and bump below the waist is gone. Thanks to the lady in an earlier review, because I, too, noticed the Spanx line that I hadn't noticed until I read her review. I solved it by getting those very high-waisted Spanx. Added glittery silver sandal heels, a crystal clutch purse, a few discrete rhinestone pieces, and a hair updo, and I'm done. Very comfy dress. Just needed a quick hem, done at Nordstroms. Opened a credit card, and got $100 of alterations free per year (double fabric hem was $75 on this dress).

Finally!

I've been on the hunt for a MOG dress for my sons September wedding. This one hit the perfect mark, minus one star. The Indigo is a slight lighter version of a navy, but not what is termed a light navy or even "lighthouse navy" that I've seen. The fit is very flattering and comfortable with some minor stretch. The color will pair well with the colors of the day, Wisteria! I ended up getting the size 10, although the fit measurement was advising the 12. My everyday size for pants is an 8P or 10P, shirt a M or LP. I ordered and returned a dress by this same maker recently, size 12 as advised, similar style, only to have it too loose, so my gut was to get the 10 which I'm so glad I did, it fits just right, except for the extremely long length for my 5'3" and 3" heels. I will be getting rid of the mini "train" too, no thanks, when it gets hemmed! The sleeves cover the arms appropriately for my taste. I just don't want to look at all the pictures later and stare only at my arms, ugh! I'm 53 y.o., not too old and not too young, middle age for now, with that said, IMO the neckline is what keeps the dress from entering into that, "I don't want to look matronly" look on a dress with 3/4 sleeves. It sits effortlessly right at the tips of my shoulders, held up with, but not necessary, the help of a silicone strip, very nice. Also, to add to the unmatronliness look, versus the matronly one I want to stay away from is the curve hugging of the hips and rear, along with the overall lines of the dress; I love the fit! Speaking of the lines, I was concerned the lines near the hips and thighs would look funky once I alter the length, but it'll look good still, and not out of proportion due to the fact I'm not of a tall statuesque height. The reason for the four stars and not five, a little sparkle, just a small amount somewhere would add to the overall wonder of this dress, but then again it's kind of what I'm looking for, no frills material, yet current, for the event I need it for, I can't make up my mind! Essentially, I now get to wear some of that sparkly jewelry I own, tastefully of course!
