This is a stylish and affordable boot. I was hesitant at first to purchase it but, I'm glad I did. It's kinda hard to break them in but, that's my only complaint. I'm glad I bought them. I want to order the brown and wine color also if they go on sale for Black Friday.
I walk a lot so my days of high heels are long over. I need shoes that are comfortable, yet stylish enough to wear with skinny jeans, leggings and casual sundresses. The Troopa is that shoe! My only criticism is that they will scuff easily if you're not careful, and I find myself trying to baby them for that reason since they are genuine leather. When I walk my dogs - who like to walk on rocks and wet grass - I wear synthetic military boots from Target. This original Troopa has been discontinued by Steve Madden and replaced with the Troopa 2.0, which has a thicker, lugged sole. I actually prefer the Troopa 2.0 over this boot; although it is chunkier, I find it more comfortable for walking long distances. The colors seem richer in 2.0 (stone is less green; cognac is a lighter brown). The leather on the Troopa 2.0 has less texture/grain, which some people may not find appealing, but it has a more substantial feel and seems like it would last longer due to the thickness. That all said, if you can't live without these originals, hoard them now while they are on sale!
These are absolutely my favorite boots. I have a few different pair but when I'm getting ready to leave I find myself sliding these on really often. They're completely comfortable, I bought my first pair for Coachella (the stone leather color) last year & I took them again this year. I just bought a 2nd pair in the Wine Leather color because I love them so much.
