Awesome shoe! Purchased about 3 years ago and is one of the best pair of shoes I own. Every time I wear this shoe I get atleast 4-5 complements...love them.

I bought the Carlsbad in Walnut almost 5 months ago. The way they fit in my wardrobe - I have usually worn them 1-2 times a week for 2-3 hours at a stretch.I purchased the McAllister a couple of months prior to them in Walnut as well in size 9EEE. But with these I went a half size smaller to 8.5EEE. Now, I prefer a slightly snug fit with some wiggle room in for my toes.
First of all, the look & design of the shoes is very unique. When you strut out in them, you stand 2-3 levels of quality apart from the entire off-the-shelf brand name purchasers. This is my first instance of purchasing a Loafer in Goodyear Welt Construction (have purchased 3 Oxfords prior to this) and the sturdy, solid feel of the leather sole literally makes you feel a couple of inches higher than the glued-on-rubber-sole shoe patrons around you.
Second of all, they are durable! Boy are they ever; I mean talk about built to last! The leather stretched out nice and snug on the last, the woven vamp and the tighter heel just make this shoe really strong & solid in feel.
Just a minor word of caution: for me these needed a bit of breaking in. I would say they took me about 15+ hours of wear to really get comfortable (especially around the tongue of the upper) as opposed to the McAllister which was within the first hour. Now, this could also have to do with my foot or me going a half size smaller, but I thought I would share it as an FYI.
Am currently looking to buy the Sanibel in Chili Grain. AE you are the best shoe company in the world - keep going for another hundred years.

Too narrow in toe; not the color depicted on website

I love Allen Edmonds shoes and have many pairs. I have bought them for years. However, the last two pair I have ordered from the website are not what I expected. The first pair were poor quality; this pair is more pointed in the toe and because of that it is too snug in the toe area. Also, the color on the website is darker and nicer than the shoe that was actually sent to me.
