As promised I have purchased the Carlsbad in chili to accompany the black. This is a superb shoe both in style and comfort and sure to be noticed. This is a shoe you should own.

The shoes are beautiful, well made, and will certainly last a life time. However, they are the first shoes I have bought in a size 10 D that I have ever returned. That's been my size since I was a teenager. I am planning to exchange them for the same model, only in a 9.5 E.

First pair of Allen Edmonds

My grandfather, father and both my brothers have been long time believers in AE shoes. When he was alive, that's all my grandfather would wear and now I see why. Never before able to justify the price point just a few years removed from college, I finally had the opportunity to purchase my first pair of AE's a few weeks ago. After searching through the many styles, I actually didn't even have the Carlsbad in my top three, as I was looking for a black loafer and didn't feel that the weave would pop (the way it does on the Walnut version). I was wrong. The Carlsbad instantly caught my eye and is a phenomenal looking loafer. Add to that it was a great fit for me (runs a little narrow compared to other AE's) and I was on my way. After only 5 times wearing the shoe (every other day, for the whole day) they are breaking in very nicely and are already getting comfortable. When I'm ready to pick up my next pair of shoes, they will definitely be AE's and there's a good chance it will be the Walnut Carlsbad.

This was my fourth pair of Allen's and I would say my best to date. I simply love how versatile it is for any situation. Comfort is fantastic, and the walnut color gets a lot of attention. I have been wearing them for a few weeks now and break in was quite fast. This def needs to be an addition to your wardrobe. You may want to order a half size smaller.
